Kaerimichi no raito Nanraka no aizu wo Mukishitsu ni hanatsu biru tachi no Namae wa shiranyo Demo arigatou Hiraiteku kokoro no hannyuukou

Seeing lights on the way home

They’re some kinds of signs sent by industrial buildings

I don’t know your names, but thank you

The entrance to my heart starts to open up

Atataka na mado Kaaten no oku wo Oshihakaru kotowa yabou dakedo Shiawase negauyo Kurashi no sainn wo Kureta kao mo shiranu nakama tachi

It seems rude to imagine what’s behind the warm window and the curtain

But I wish you happiness, my unfamiliar* companions that showed me the signs of life

Anata ga iru nara jinsei wa kyou mo heiwa da

If you are here, my life today will also be peaceful

Toutei bokuja haraemo shinai youna Fukai yami sae mo boyakashite shimau Machi no tasogare no jinsei no Musuu no utsukushisa ni tohou ni kureru

I’m at a loss from seeing the countless beauty of the lives of strangers in town

They blur the deep darkness that I can’t fathom to** brush off myself

Tameiki wo tsuku to Yameteyo tte chotto Shikatte kuru okashi na yatsu ga iru Kotoba de wa naiyo Tenmetsu no reddo Oyogu yonnrinn nirinn sakana no mure

When I sigh, someone peculiar tells me to stop

They don’t speak with words

They’re the blinking red, the school of swimming four-wheeled and two-wheeled fish

Nagameteta boku no nimotsu wa emi eto kawatta

My burden I was glancing at turned into a smile

Toutei hitorija tsukuremo shinai you na Aichaku no waku shiwa no hitotsu hitotsu Kimi no anata no omaetachi no Sono tanomoshisa ni tohou ni kureru

Every single wrinkle can’t possibly** be made by just one person, I can’t help but be fond of them

From you, you, and you***, they’re so reliable, I’m at a loss

Kieteku raito Sizukesa to tomo ni Tomori dasu raito Kawaru kawaru Otozureru yoru wo Ikinuku tame no daiji na hikari wo Yadoshiteru dare mo Todoiteru chanto chanto chanto

The lights fade

In silence, the lights light up

Everyone has an important light to keep them alive through the nights that keep coming

They’ve all reached here, they’re here, they’re here, they’re here****

Toutei bokuja haraemo shinai youna Fukai yami sae mo boyakashite shimau Machi no tasogare no jinsei no Musuu no utsukushisa ni tohou ni kureru

I’m at a loss from seeing the countless beauty of the lives of strangers in town

They blur the deep darkness that I can’t fathom to brush off myself

Kitto bokura wa uketotte shimau Ironna kyoufu mo ironna kanashimi mo Sore wo seotta mono doushi dakara koso Tagai wo terashi attewa warau

We will probably receive all the various fears and sorrows

We shine upon each other and smile because we shoulder all of it together

Subete no raito Oyasumi arigatou Todoiteru chanto chanto…

To all the lights, good night, and thank you

They’ve all reached here, they’re here, they’re here…****

This song was pretty difficult to translate, because so much of it is poetic and figurative writing imo. But that’s what makes it such a beautiful and heartwarming song :) Here’s hoping my translation did justice to the original lyrics.

In general, I think “sign” is pretty much synonymous with “signal” in this song; since Satocchan says “sign” I thought I’d go with that :)

  • the direct translation of “顔も知らぬ”/”kao mo shiranu”, from which I got “unfamiliar”, is “of unknown faces”.

** The “I can’t fathom to” and the “can’t possibly” come from the same phrase: “到底...ない”/”toutei… nai”. Satocchan is a genius so the sentence structure of both of these verses is very similar. Unfortunately I had to break them into different structures in my translation :(

*** the “you, you, and you” is translated from “君のあなたのお前たちの”/”kimi no anata no omaetachi no”, where 君(kimi), あなた(anata), お前たち(omaetachi) are 3 different ways of saying “you”. Omaetachi is one way of saying the plural “you”, the others are singular.

**** the direct translation of “ちゃんと”/”chanto” is “surely/certainly/properly”. I interpreted this as Satocchan (re)assuring everyone that the positive energy/happiness of the fans have reached him/higedan, so I imagined “they’re here” is a more figurative way of expressing the same idea.
